Philopotamidae
The family Philopotamidae is represented in Norway by four species in three genera. The species are small to medium sized with comparatively wide and blunt wings. The larvae live in stony, fast flowing stream and rivers. They construct tubular nets attached to stones and boulders. The nets are extremely fine-meshed and filter very fine organic particles from the water, which the larva then eats.
