Molanna angustata is a small to medium sized caddisfly with very narrow wings.

The coloration of its forewing is pale brownish grey, usually with paler, yellowish brown spots. The species occurs over much of Norway, but is most common in the inner/eastern parts. The larvae inhabit streams, rivers, ponds and lakes, often on sandy bottom. They build characteristic portable cases of sand grains, which are cone shaped with broad, flattened lateral flanges.
