Molanna albicans is a small to medium sized caddisfly with very narrow wings.

The coloration of its forewing is nut brown to greyish brown with diffuse lighter markings. The species occurs over most of the country, but is uncommon in Western Norway. The larvae inhabit rivers, ponds and lakes. They build characteristic portable cases of sand grains, which are cone shaped with broad, flattened lateral flanges.
