The species are very small to small; in the genus Beraea the wings are comparatively wide and rounded, in the genus Beraeodes they are narrower and more acute. The larvae live in seeps, brooks and small streams, often among vegetation and fallen leaves. They construct narrow, curved, portable cases using sand grains.
